The visuals are spectacular, I often find myself standing on the top of a mountain taking watching a sunset, or standing in my base listening to the hums and beeps of my modules whirring while I wait. The Astroneer is a wonderful and accessible open world survival crafting game, where you land in a solar system and need to survive. I shouldn't be having these issues now, or at least should have had the opportunity to report them before the game left early access.Astroneer is a wonderful and accessible open world survival crafting game, where you land in a solar system and need to survive.

And it won't detect my logitech mouse side buttons anymore, so unless I want to use the mouse software to rebind the side buttons to unused, unreserved keys on the KB and then assign functions to those keys, I'm out of luck.Īgain, this is supposedly a "fully released" game, not another pre-release beta. You can't double-bind keys either each key can only do one thing, and it just swaps with the last key used. Keybinding has been changed so you can no longer rebind all keys, some are reserved for system functions. I don't know why they went out of their way to change it when it was fine the way it was. The main menu UI is totally different now, and seems to lag and freeze when swapping pages. I didn't play far enough to set down a planet's worth of tethers or even build any vehicles, so I can't comment on those complaints firsthand. I'm running into some of the same issues others have reported: slipping through terrain, bizarre physics and UI overlay glitches, and laggy control response. Possibly Terrain 2.0, but who knows? I never had such problems with Astroneer before this build. I've tampered with the graphics settings, updated my drivers, and verified the game files, but that's as far as I'm willing to go to remedy the game in its current state, when it's clearly the game's fault. I've tried it a couple times since the new release, and I'm having some miserable framerates. It's in unacceptable condition for a supposed 1.0 release out of Early Access, and like a lot of other EA games, it seems suspiciously like they were just tired of working on it and decided to push it out the door already.

Sure, they will probably release a few obligatory bugfixes before they give up on it entirely, but the game is a shambles right now. It's less stable than builds over a year old, yet this mess is where they're content to draw the line and call it done. It's buggy, it's laggy, performance is down, the new UI is terrible, there's no preview on the character creator, and they needlessly reworked the controls.
#ASTRONEER STEAM CHEAP UPDATE#
Well, the 1.0 release is here, and since they spent 4 months working on this one big update without any testing and without any feedback, and it's absolute garbage. Then they announced they would not be submitting any more experimental builds and leaving Early Access in 2019.

They had a reasonably stable build back in November, with some optional experimental terrain and a few features that needed balancing, but it looked promising. I played this all through early access, and sometimes the new build was better, sometimes it was worse.

If you'd asked me a year ago I would have said yes, but they've totally blown it. Developer and publisher-specific rulesĪnyone on the fence, please avoid for now. Submit a new deal Submit a question/PSA Reddit New Deals Popular Deals Deals and Discussion
